Permanent Hair Reduction
Fresh Face MedSpa incorporates intense pulsed light (IPL) for the treatment of unwanted hair. Pulses of light are emitted in proximity to hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted into heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for growing new hair.
Unlike electrolysis which kills one hair follicle at a time, IPL treats a wide area quickly and effectively. In addition, our handpieces incorporate contact cooling which eliminates the need for topical anesthetics for most patients.

Restrictions on IPL hair removal treatment
Although most patients are candidates for treatment, you should avoid hair reduction treatments with IPL under the following conditions:
• A history of keloid scarring. • Active infection or a history of herpes simplex in the treatment area • Hypersensitivity to bleaching agents. • Use of Accutane within the preceding 6 months.
Before IPL treatment
Do not wax, pluck or have electrolysis for at least four weeks prior to treatment. Shaving does not affect the treatment result. Use sunscreen daily. Any suntan will interfere with the effectiveness of the therapy and increase the risk associated with the treatment.
After IPL treatment
All treated areas should be washed twice daily with cool water and mild soap. You should use a sunscreen with a SPF of greater than 15 at all times on treated areas.
Within the next week, hair will begin to fall out of the follicles. Do not shave during this time. You may rub the treated area with a dry towel to pull out the hair follicles. IPL treatment should be repeated in one to three months, depending on hair cycle.
Fresh Face MedSpa uses the Palomar StarLux to achieve permanent hair reduction. In 1996, Palomar became the first light-based technology company to receive FDA clearance for Permanent Hair Reduction. Since then, the company has developed more powerful and effective technologies to achieve the quickest possible hair clearance.
RejuveLux ™ Treatments
Vascular and Pigmented Lesions
Fresh Face MedSpa offers the RejuveLux Photofacial. This is a process for the treatment of selected pigmented and vascular lesions on the face, arms, chest, and other large areas. Utilizing uniquely tailored handpieces with our Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) system, we are able to treat sunspots, rosacea, telangectasias and other conditions in order to improve skin tone and texture.
Pigmented lesions (sunspots or age spots) occur in response to sun-induced skin injury. Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy is quick and easy. After initial preparation, our nurse will move the light handpiece over your skin. The handpiece emits a light that breaks up the pigment in the lesions. The damaged lesions are then naturally sloughed as the skin exfoliates.
Similarly, vascular lesions such as rosacea (facial inflammation) and spider veins (tiny vessels that appear near the surface of the face) may be treated with intense pulsed light (IPL).
The absorption of the light by hemoglobin within the vascular areas results in a thermal reaction inside the blood vessels. This reaction contributes to the degeneration and disappearance of visible vessels.
PhotoFacial Treatment
PhotoFacial or IPL Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive procedure which utilizes Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) to erase the signs of aging from your face, neck, chest and hands. IPL can be used to treat age spots, sun damaged skin, rosacea, fine lines and loss of skin tone and elasticity. IPL is a non-invasive and safe technique with minimal or no “down time”. Integrated contact cooling helps minimize or eliminate the need for topical anesthetics for many patients.
Restrictions on IPL treatment
Although most patients are candidates for therapy, you should avoid treatments with IPL under the following conditions:
• A history of keloid scarring. • Active infection or a history of herpes simplex in the treatment area • Hypersensitivity to bleaching agents. • Use of Accutane within the preceding 6 months.
After IPL treatment
Pigmented lesions will darken slightly after treatment, and then fade away after about 10-14 days.
Vessels (visible veins) generally undergo immediate graying or blanching and the surrounding area may redden. The vessels then fade after about 10-14 days.
Fractional Skin Resurfacing
Fractional Photothermolysis is a revolutionary treatment for soft tissue coagulation and non-ablative skin resurfacing* with high efficacy and no downtime. Fractional Photothermoloysis is most commonly used for to improve skin texture, lines and wrinkles.
The Palomar Lux1540 Fractional™ Laser Handpiece delivers light in an array of high precision microbeams. These microbeams create narrow, deep columns of tissue coagulation that penetrate well below the epidermis and into the dermis, while sparing the tissue surrounding the columns from damage.
Throughout the process, the integrity of the stratum corneum is maintained, which protects the tissue from infection as it heals. The result: faster dermal remodeling and skin resurfacing. *Lux1540 FDA cleared for soft tissue coagulation. 510(k) submitted for skin resurfacing.
