there was microdermabrasion. A technique of skin
exfoliation, traditional microdermabrasion uses
aluminum oxide crystals to “sandblast”
the most superficial skin layers. Traditional
microdermabrasion exposes the skin to fine aluminum
particles.
Because many patients wish to avoid exposure to
aluminum oxide crystals, a crystal free microdermabrasion
was developed. Although performed without crystals,
this technique may be thought of as a dry sandpapering
of the skin.
